More than 3,900 Express Entry candidates have been invited by the Canadian government in order to apply for the permanent residence in Canada on 3rd October 2018. The least number of ranking to be offered was around 445.

It was the third draw from a pool of Express Entry in just three weeks and therefore, it being the largest draw in 2018, is a remarkable stance of returning 3,900 ITAs (Invitations to Apply).

The Express Entry System is a statutory body that works to manage the profiles of the candidates of the three main federal economic categories of immigration. They are namely, the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Federal Skilled Trade Class and the Canadian Experience Class.

The applied candidates are assessed and thereafter ranked according to the CRS or Comprehensive Ranking System and are awarded scores respectively. Various factors are inclusive of this assessment, and those include the age of the candidate, the education, work experience, and also proficiency in English or French since these two are the official languages of Canada.

Thereafter, the candidates having the highest ranks are issued with an ITA (Invitation to Apply) with the help of regular rounds of invitation.

Unlike other years, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have introduced a large and standardized size of the draw this year in 2018, which has increased to as high as 3,900 applications.

Initially, the base was kept at 2,750 ITAs during the first two draws in 2018, after which it rose to a steady rate of increment. The increase in number of applications was consistently either 250 or 500 for every two months in a row. Gradually, these cascading effects of increment lead to the current figure of almost 4,000 ITAs. However, later in mid-September, the size was reduced to 3,500 in order to deviate from this pattern.

It is observed that till now in 2018, the IRCC has issued a total of 66,400 Invitation to Apply (ITA) over just 21 draws. Furthermore, the Canadian government has already set a target of 74,900 new admissions in the current year 2018, and a total of 81,400 for the next year 2019, through all the three main classes of worker, trade and experience.
