Canada Provincial Nominee Program

Provincial Nomination is a fast-track option for applying for a Canadian Permanent Residence Visa.

Who can apply for a Provincial Nominee Program?

  • Having matching skillsets, qualifications and work experience as per the PNP guidelines
  • Want to live and work in that province
  • Want to get a Canada Permanent Residence Visa

Each province or territory has its own Provincial Nomination criteria and streams to target specific groups. The applicant must meet the specific eligibility criteria of the Canadian province wherein the applicant wishes to move.
The PNP streams may target –

  • Skilled workers
  • Semi-skilled workers
  • Students
  • Business Investors

Every Canadian province other than Quebec that has different selection criteria and two other territories has their individual PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) sign an agreement with IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) and allow them to select immigrants who meet all the requirements they have originally set.

The basic feature of having a Provincial Nomination in the Express Entry System is that provinces can play significant and important role and give specific points (600). On 2nd January 2015, these particular provinces announced their varied intentions and criteria for accepting programs under the Express Entry System.
