Express Entry category in Nova Scotia now accepts new applications for Canadian immigration
Recently on November 17th, Nova Scotia reopened a well known Express Entry-oriented immigration category to accept 225 new applicants. The Nova Scotia Demand: Express Entry Stream’s Category B is among the four immigration pathways through which Atlantic Canada province can nominate candidates for obtaining Canadian permanent residence within the Express Entry system of the federal government.
Express Entry system helps to manage numerous candidates for the three highly skilled federal economic immigration programs of Canada, namely Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and Federal Skilled Trades Class. The Category B is quite popular with all Express Entry candidates since it does involve the no necessity of any Canadian work experience or job offer for prospective candidates to apply. Another element of the Category B is that it does not require the candidates to have a minimum CRS or Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking Score that is often used for determining the rank of a candidate in Express Entry pool.
The Nova Scotia provincial nomination is backed by 600 CRS points and this paves the way for approved application under the Category B. It is also going to make it easier for the Express Entry candidates to get the opportunity to apply for the Canadian permanent residence. The outcome of the application is not going to be determined by the original ranking score.
The Express Entry candidates are required to have sufficient work experience in at least one of the 11 opportunity occupations in Nova Scotia. This will help them to become eligible for this specific immigration category.
The latest November 17 opening involved standard elements of competitive intake process associated with Category B that functions on first-come, first-served basis. In other words, Nova Scotia accepts all the applications according to the order in which they are submitted as long as the intake limits are met. The whole process normally takes a couple of hours.
The intake trends for November 17 also followed the standard trends of this procedure and were completed in less than 2 hours. This also matched the proceedings of the previous Category B intakes, the last of which took place on April 28th, 2018. In that event, a total number of 350 applications were accepted. Like the latest intake event, the previous one also ended within a few hours.
